Abaporu Neon, is a high-energy party celebrating and reimagining Brazilian art modernism.
💥Escandalize-se!💥
Throughout numerous decades, Brazilian Modern Art developed, evolved, and became a collection of vibrant and multifaceted “modernisms”. They had different faces but were connected by a common thread: the ideas of breaking with conservatism, finding freedom of expression, searching for the country's true identity and valuing what is Brazilian. It feels contemporary, right?

The historical moment that put Brazilian Modernism in the spotlight was the Modern Art Week (Semana de Arte Moderna), a scandalous arts festival held in the conservative Municipal Theater in São Paulo, in 1922. As we celebrate the centennial of this transformational week, we invite you to scandalize yourself, find your Brasilidade, and join us for a day of dancing to the sound of DJs and live music, performances, delicious Brazilian food, visual arts, and a neon costume station.

Personal work with the same neon aesthetic

I’ve been drawing neon signs for a while now. I’ve collected this on the streets of NY. I guess is my new obsession.
